We parked at the visitors' center, checked it out briefly, and then did one of the main hikes out to the river and back via a loop (about a mile total). The Trolly Ride: We did the entire 15 stop trolly ride because we wanted to get as much in as possible. We did not feel good about being there.Ĥ. Let someone else do the navigating via a trolley, horse-drawn carriage or riverboat. See gardens and fountains and sit a spell under shady trees in 22 historic squares dotting the city. Stroll, run or bike along picturesque cobblestone streets. It's dark: At least seems that way to us. Savannah begs for its visitors to stay outdoors and absorb its natural beauty. The homeless: Yes they are everywhere, but more here than I've seen in any other tourist area. I understand there are lots of tourists, but a city the lives off of tourism should clean up its act. We've visited Charleston SC several times and have really enjoyed Charleston.unfortunately, we can not say the same about Savannah. While the city is full of historical marvels, there are some things in particular you simply have to see and experience. Whether your ideal pace is strolling around the famous Forsyth fountain or a wild night of cabaret and karaoke, Savannah provides the perfect playground. We were really looking forward to our visit there to see historic Savannah.
